Today, due to the uncertain weather, we choose to try a Land Safari Tour in Hauhine. The island surey helps out as it is truly wild and beautuful but the Tour was really awesome and unforgettable due to our guide, Romain. He was so passionate and so eager to transfer all the incredible information about Polinesia, Huahine, the local people and the way they populated and live on the island that really drove us into the island and into the Polynesian way of life. We shot tons of beautiful p… Read more
Combined with the lagoon tour this let us visit all the remaining worthwhile sites. only the visit to the Pearl Farm was a repeat! We were the only two so we had the guide, Poroi, to ourselves. Sacred eels, vanilla plantation and the Restored Marai at Maeva as well as the standard viewpoints. It rained a lot and I got quite wet in the back, but they did change the vehicle for a newer one with better protection. We did get some sunshine for the eels and Maeva. At the hotel they told us that there… Read more
Huahine is an unspoiled tropical island with amazing people and an interesting culture. Huahine Land provides a tour that goes beyond the typical attractions and brings the guest up close to the unexpected. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, personable and funny. I loved seeing the small outside islands (motus), the endless vistas from the mountains, and our stop at the site of ancient worship.
This classic circuit of the beautiful island of Huahine was made special by our guide, Romain. He combined charm, knowledge and insight with a subtle sensitivity to the needs of his diverse little group of travelers. We made this tour from our Wind Star ship and our time was limited. Clearly, with more time, Romain could have embellished the standard elements of a tour with his many linkages to the culture and nature of the island.
We celebrated our 47th Wedding Anniversary with a Windstar Cruise of Polynesia and thoroughly enjoyed tours on each of the islands ….. but this tour was different. It was as if our guide, Roman, was a personal friend of his four travelers. He came to French Polynesia with the French military 25 years ago and, after his two year tour, he remained! He is married to a Polynesian lady, and has children. Of significance, his Mother-In-Law is a “Medicine Woman” on the island. At every stop, he picked … Read more
Took my family on the half day tour. Very beautiful island and great information from our tour guide Mr. Hamblin Poroi. Hamblin was able to drive us around the area and explain the nature and history at a relaxing pace. My kids really enjoyed it. Thank you Hamblin!
